I’m Dawn Regier, running for Governor of Oregon as the Oregon Progressive Party candidate because Oregon’s economy should work for the people who live here—not Wall Street banks. Right now, billions of public dollars flow through private financial institutions driven by profit, not the public good. A publicly owned state bank would keep Oregon’s money in Oregon, reinvesting it through partnerships with local banks and credit unions to support housing, schools, infrastructure, small businesses, farmers, climate projects, and rural communities—without raising taxes or cutting essential services. Research shows Oregon could save up to $1 billion a year by doing this. A public state bank isn’t radical—it’s practical, accountable, and democratic. It’s about economic justice, local resilience, and taking back control of our money so we can fund the future we actually want.
